I dressed up nicely, but why do I look like I'm on a hike? Women's autumn outfits that dramatically change your vibe for viewing fall foliage.
If you have decided to go see the autumn foliage with your husband on the weekend, you might start by worrying about what to wear. We plan to walk along a trail lined with colorful leaves in the morning and stop by a restaurant with a nice atmosphere for lunch, so wearing just a windbreaker and sneakers feels a bit lacking. However, you can't exactly wear uncomfortable clothes for a day of long walking either. For this kind of itinerary, an autumn outfit featuring a camel beige suede half-jacket paired with an olive brown A-line midi skirt and dark brown long boots catches my eye.
The reason it looks like hiking clothes for an autumn foliage viewing trip is that the outer layer is different.

Even when walking along the same autumn foliage path, the atmosphere changes quite a bit depending on your attire. Someone wearing a windbreaker, hiking boots, and performance pants looks more like they are prepared for a hike, while someone in a suede jacket and skirt looks more like they are dressed up for an autumn outing. This doesn't mean one is better than the other. It simply means the clothes needed differ depending on whether you are actually hiking or just taking a walk that includes a meal.
This time, I chose a camel beige suede half-jacket. It has a length that reaches the upper thighs and a design with shoulders that aren't excessively wide. The surface has a subtle texture, so it goes well with the scenery of autumn foliage.
You can button up the jacket in the morning and wear it unbuttoned as the temperature rises during the day. However, since suede is susceptible to moisture, it is more practical to choose a different outer layer if rain is forecast or if you are in a place with many wet, muddy roads.
If you have a similar suede jacket in your closet, try matching it with a skirt before buying a new one. Even a jacket you usually wear only with jeans can give off a completely different vibe if you change the bottoms.
A changing impression inside a black fine-gauge knit and a camel beige jacket
Wearing a black knit under a camel beige jacket creates a clear color boundary. With the dark color inside the light jacket, the upper body looks much neater. This time, instead of a thick knit, I chose a thin, tightly woven fine-gauge knit.

Depending on the material, suede jackets can feel stiff when you move your arms. If you wear a thick knit sweater over them, the inside of the sleeves can feel bulky and the shoulder area is prone to bulging. That is why a thin knit sweater is necessary.
I chose a round neck that doesn't sit too high and feel constricting. Rather than assuming that black makes your face look dark, you should first check if there is room around the neck when you actually wear it.
Even when I go indoors for lunch and take off my jacket, my outfit remains just a black knit and an olive brown skirt. However, when I consider how I will look without the outer layer, choosing the inner clothes changes a little.
Olive brown A-line midi skirt, matching the length with a half jacket
The key element to look out for in this fall's outfit is the skirt. Wearing a camel beige suede jacket with ordinary black pants creates a safe outfit for going out, but wearing an olive brown A-line midi skirt changes the vibe completely.

Olive brown is a color with a slight green tint mixed into brown. It doesn't stand out too much even in places with many red autumn leaves and yellow ginkgo leaves, and it blends naturally with a camel beige jacket.
I chose an A-line skirt that is sleek at the waist and hips and gradually flares out towards the bottom. The length comes down to about mid-calf. The skirt needs to be sufficiently visible below the hem of the jacket for the difference in length between the two garments to be apparent.
You also need to check if the front of your skirt is pulling when sitting on a restaurant chair or getting into a car. Even if a skirt looks pretty when walking, if you have to pull the hem every time you sit down, it will be bothersome for the entire day.
If you want to wear a midi skirt with long boots even on a path of autumn foliage
I wore dark brown leather long boots under an olive brown midi skirt. They end just below the knee and have a low, block-style heel. Since the skirt and boots are similar in color, the calf area doesn't look too distinct.
The difference in long boots becomes more apparent when walking than when standing. If the boot shaft is too wide, it shakes around your calves with every step, and if it is too narrow, it can be uncomfortable when climbing stairs.

Especially on autumn foliage paths, there are sections mixed with wet stones and soil, not just dry fallen leaves. You should check for soles designed for grip rather than smooth leather ones. Even if the heels are low, they are not suitable for walking if the soles are slippery.
This combination is suitable for an itinerary that involves walking along the well-maintained arboretum trails and going back and forth to the restaurant. For steep mountain paths or long hiking courses, it is appropriate to choose walking shoes instead of long boots.
Autumn outing look finished with an Espresso Brown mini crossbody bag
I chose an espresso brown mini crossbody bag. The addition of a dark brown between the camel beige jacket and olive brown skirt creates a calm flow in the overall color scheme.
The feel of a crossbody bag changes depending on where it sits on your body. This time, I adjusted the strap so that the main body of the bag sits just above the hips. It is a length that prevents the bag from hanging down too low even when worn over a half-jacket.
If it is small enough to fit a cell phone and a card wallet, you won't need to bring a separate large bag when entering a restaurant. However, since rough straps can leave marks on the surface if they constantly rub against a suede jacket, it would be better to check the strap material as well.

For this outfit, I like the combination of the camel beige suede half-jacket and the olive brown A-line midi skirt the most. Just by changing the skirt on a jacket I usually wear, I can move away from a hiking-wear vibe, and if I add dark brown long boots, it becomes an outfit suitable for a meal after viewing the autumn foliage.
