My bank account won't last if I buy clothes for every wedding… Budget-friendly wedding guest looks for women on a chilly October weekend
If you start looking at dresses, jackets, and even shoes just to go to a wedding, 200,000 to 300,000 won adds up faster than you think. Especially on weekends like these, when it gets chilly from the morning, you need an outer layer, so you end up buying one more thing. In times like these, I start by trying on the charcoal pants in my closet and take out a soft blue knit sweater. I throw on the jacket I usually wear to work and even put on low slingbacks; if it doesn't look awkward, I stop shopping right there.
This time, before looking for what to buy, I tried eliminating items I didn't really need one by one. It’s surprisingly easy once you actually try it. There are days when you just need to replace a single knit sweater, and there are times when shoes look perfectly fine after being wiped clean.

Women's wedding guest look, check the condition of the black pants first
When thinking about a wedding, people often start by searching for a new dress, but if you have black or charcoal slacks, try them on first. Here, condition comes before color. Pants with baggy knees, a loose waist, or that drag on the ground at the hem will look messy even when a jacket is worn over them. Conversely, if the pants have a little room in the thighs and fall straight down, even the pants you normally wear to work can look great.
Changing the color of the top slightly alters the atmosphere. Pairing it with a soft blue or toned-down burgundy knit lightens the heavy feel of the black bottoms and adds a touch of color to your face.
For cream shades, double-check in the mirror. Put aside pure white or very bright ivory that looks white from a distance, and move on to a cream with a slight beige tint.
If you pull out a hoodie with a big logo and pair it with jeans, the vibe changes dramatically. Even if you use clothes you already have at home, this is as far as the neatness suitable for a wedding goes.

A chilly weekend wedding, give your jacket a steam run and look again.
These days, the air feels quite chilly as soon as you open the front door in the morning. It is also the time of year when you might hesitate a little to go out wearing just a knit sweater for a morning wedding.
I took out a navy or deep brown jacket I usually wear and checked the shoulders first. If the shoulder line is in place and the sleeves haven't stretched out too much, it is still okay.
If there are a few everyday wrinkles, give it a steam wash. If dust is visible, brush it off with a brush. Even with knitwear, if the pilling isn't too severe, just removing the lint will make it look neater than you might expect. Your hand, which was looking for new clothes, pauses here. Then, try taking off your jacket. If you don't feel empty with just the knit sweater and pants underneath, you can wear it in the morning and take it off once you arrive at the wedding hall.
If you are comfortable in a dress, you can take out your previous clothes again.

Some people find dresses comfortable. If you already have a black or navy midi dress, try taking that out first this time.
Just changing the jacket and adding a single small earring makes a pretty big difference from last time. Here, instead of the photo, let's take a look at how it looks when seated.
Whether the waist or stomach is too tight, or if the dress rides up when you stand up. If you plan to have a meal and then go to a cafe, this is even more concerning. You sit down and stand up, and your hand goes straight to your waist... Put that dress aside for a moment.
Conversely, if you walked out without giving it much thought, you pass.
Try matching the trouser hems before buying new wedding shoes

It is only after I’ve finished getting dressed that I notice the shoes. Ah... do I need to buy dress shoes too? I take out the low slingbacks or pumps from the shoe closet and walk a few steps in the actual wedding guest outfit. If I’m wearing slacks, I check to see if the hem bunches up over my shoes, and if it’s a skirt or dress, I check to make sure the area around my ankles doesn’t look constricting.
Even with a low heel of about 3cm, as long as the toe is neat and the leather surface is in good condition, it gives a sufficiently tidy impression. However, if the heel is worn down and slanted, or if the leather is peeling in places, it is subtly visible even in photos. In that case, just replace the one thing that is really noticeable.
If your toes already hurt after walking around the house for just a moment in heels, that's a no-go. On your wedding day, you spend much more time standing, walking, and eating than taking photos.
Autumn wedding guest look: leaving just one thing missing until the very end.
If you've tried on everything up to this point but the top just feels a bit off, then look at the knitwear. Rather than a design you'll wear to a wedding once and then put away in the closet, choose something you can wear with slacks to work next week and with denim on the weekend.

If everything is fine but you don't have anything suitable to throw on in the morning, just end this shopping trip with a single jacket. If you stand in front of your closet trying things on one by one the day before the wedding, you'll find that more items survive than you think. The pants still fit well, the jacket came back to life after a steam treatment, and the shoes look quite decent after polishing them. If there is nothing left to buy new, just use that money for the wedding gift and for coffee with friends...
